Filtered

I just got some new filters for my camera. I thought I would do a little experimenting. I have used UV and warming filters before but never color compensating filters before, and never stacked more than one at a time. Interesting results
Here is the original photo

With a yellow filter

Now a blue filter

A green and a red filter

Fun day of color play

A sign?

Circling buzzards (aka turkey vultures) are never a good sign, BUT what about the buzzards that just sit and watch you....like they are waiting for something....((((shudder))). These guys used to spend a lot of time sitting on the fence above our home in Colorado. I came across the picture last night while doing some digital organizing.

Buzzards/Turkey Vultures are often seen standing in a spread-winged stance. This is called the "horaltic pose." The stance serves multiple functions, including warming the body and drying the wings.

Did you know they are bald for hygiene reasons? They often stick their heads inside of carcasses to feed. They are bald so the flesh of their "dinner" doesn't stick to their heads. Nice to know they are hygiene aware huh? ((double shudder))

SO there you have it! A few bits of information, you could probably live without, on the infamous buzzard/turkey vulture. *wink*

I sometimes wonder if they still hang around on that fence in Colorado. I still think it can't be a good sign... Glad they didn't follow us to Texas
There is beauty in everything, we just need to learn to look for it

Final Resting Place

There are several places in our area that you see old boots on top of fence posts. I haven't figured out why they are there yet. Maybe to protect the tops of the posts from weather? Decoration? Repurposing? Maybe a warning to trespassers, "this is all that is left of the last guy who trespassed" Or just a final resting place for a pair of boots with a little life left in them. Either way, they intrigue me. All styles, shapes and sizes.

Interesting....
Have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend. Take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, so that we have the freedoms we enjoy every day.
God Bless our service men and women

Baseball dreams

I have not been feeling well so haven't gotten out today to take my photo of the day. Being stuck inside has me dreaming of baseball. I love baseball! The sounds, the smells, the perfectly manicured green grass, the whole experience.

Today I am sharing a photo that was taken last year at Ranger's Stadium in Arlington, TX. This is one of the large, very cool, light fixtures outside of the stadium.

Go Rangers!

Heavenly Rays

I took this picture a couple of years ago. It is one of my favorites. The combination of filtered sunlight through the trees and dust from a neighbors lawn mower made for a "heavenly" shot from my back patio.

God provides us with such beauty everyday. Have you taken time to look for and appreciate all of the beauty around you today?

Black Eyed Susan's

These little beauty's are everywhere. Summer must be here

I think the open flowers are beautiful, but I love the buds. That little bit of dark brown peeking out from the bright yellow, saying hello summer here I come!

What is this?

I came across this yesterday while walking through a field in East Texas. I have no idea what it is called. I do know it is poisonous (leaves of three, let it be).
It is on a vine like plant

Well? What do you think?
I love the way it looks like a jellyfish, very interesting

Graduation, boots and a barn

Graduation pictures are always fun. These are my niece Jamie's legs. The barn in the background was used in one of the first Miranda Lambert videos, kind of fun huh?

Thanks for the use of your legs Jamie.....oh

AND thank you and your sisters for their legs too!
Love you girls

Invasion!

We had a wonderful, much needed, rain last night. It brought out another wave of baby frogs & toads, there are literally thousands of them! They are so teeny tiny I just had to share some more pictures.
Jeremy took these with his cell phone

Isn't he just the cutest little thing? We have to be careful where we step, they are EVERYWHERE!
Lends new meaning to the phrase "stop on a dime" doesn't it?
Thanks for the pictures Jeremy

Happy Mothers Day to all of you mothers, moms, mammas and mums

Farmall

This is a Farmall F-12, Straight 8 tractor. Another beautifully restored, and enhanced, tractor from the collection of Mr. and Mrs. L. Davis. This tractor has TWO 4 cylinder motors!
The Farmall F-12 was originally manufactured in the USA from 1932-1938 with one German built 4 cylinder engine.

Isn't she a beauty? LOVE the shiny red paint and attention to detail

Mr. Davis getting her set up for her photo shoot.

As much as I love the bright red paint......

I love using the sepia toned filter on photographs. It makes my mind wander back to a simpler time, a time when this tractor was a luxury on the family farm. A time of hard working people with a love for the land, God, family and country. A simpler time.

I can't wait to get to know, and share, more of the Davis' tractors. SO much history.....if only they could talk.....

Keep snappin'

Toad Babies

We had rain a couple nights ago and the baby toads are everywhere! There must be hundreds of them in the yard. They are so tiny. There were several on our front walk, however this little one is the only one who hung around for the photo op.

Annie is enjoying "playing" with them....alright she is pawing them, but playing seems like a much nicer way to describe it. There are so many of them, if they all survive to be big toads we are in trouble!

Smile at someone you don't know today, it will make their day....and yours

Jimminy Cricket!

Last night we got 2 1/2" of very much needed rain. The lightning storm was incredible! This big guy has hung around on the patio for the last couple days. I wonder if he knew a big storm was coming?

He is a VERY large (Texas sized *wink*) cricket.
I can only assume he is a cricket based on the online "Texas Cricket photos". This is NOT what Colorado crickets look like.

Have an amazing day
