Dragonfly Shadows

"Chasing shadows"
August 6, 2013

This is not the best dragonfly shot and of course doesn't hold a candle to the amazing dragonfly photos posted on the Dailies Photo Group I belong to...BUT I loved the shadow so had to post.
I followed this guy around for 25 minutes, in 100 degree heat, until he stayed still long enough to get a shot. ....of his shadow.
I am inspired by the dragonfly masters on the Dailies and will keep trying to capture one of these amazing little creatures.

Tomorrow morning marks the beginning of my "100 mile capture" photo project. On our road trip, which will cover 8 states and 4500+ miles, I will stop every 100 miles and take a photo of something. Regardless of where that 100 mile mark is. Could be very interesting.

Have an amazing day and Keep Snappin'

Relaxing in a hot bath after a fun night

These are the glasses I use for props when I take the photo booth to an event. This weekend they attended a wedding. After a night of fun and making party goers look great the glasses usually need a bath really bad!
I love the bubbles and the reflections are from the overhead lights in my kitchen.

Proceeds from the photo booth are used to fund a project I started a couple of years ago after experiencing the loss of a good friend to cancer. The Eyes of Grace Project provides NO COST photo sessions for those experiencing a challenging time in their life. It is my way of giving back through photography. If you would like to know more about the project

The 100 mile photo project is about to begin, VERY exciting!

Have a fabulous week and keep snappin'

Photo PROJECTS!!

Hello!!

Welcome to the Brick Road Photo blog!
This blog will be used to record my Photo A Day post, in conjunction with the Dailies Photo group on SmugMug.

On Wednesday August 7 through August 21 I will begin a “photo every 100 miles” project and would love for you to follow the journey.  I will take a photo every 100 miles, regardless of where that 100 mile mark is.  Could be interesting…….please join me!

I am so excited to share my love of photography with you.  Don’t expect any tutorials or in depth how to’s.  I love the art of photography NOT the science behind it  AND I am just learning myself.
For now….Welcome and keep on snappin’

Daffodil Garden Adventure

Hi everyone!
Today we went to The Helen Lee Daffodil Gardens in Gladewater, TX.
Miss Jeanne, Miss Jessica and I had the most amazing day!
The flowers were amazing! The daffodils are on 28 acres of beautiful land, covered in amazing golden flowers. Where did all these flowers come from???

Well, a long time ago Mrs. Lee purchased an entire train car load of daffodil bulbs from Holland and some workers planted them. This is Mrs Johnson and Mr Dennis. Mrs. Johnson's grandparents, Mamie and Nathaniel Scott, worked for Mrs. Lee and helped plant these beautiful flowers. Mrs. Johnson is now the manager of Mrs. Lee's Daffodil Gardens and keeps all the visitors happy everyday. Mr Dennis works very hard to take care of all of the trees and the roads and the flowers! He is very busy!
I am very honored to have my picture taken with them. They work so hard to keep this beautiful garden maintained and open for people to enjoy every spring. Thank you Mrs. Johnson and Mr Dennis!
Daffodils smell so wonderful!
Make sure you stop and smell a flower today....
it will make you smile.

It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and
it felt so good!

We saw a lake there named Lake Josephine. Mrs Lee named the lake after her mom and she used to go there to enjoy the flowers and nature. It is beautiful!

While we were there, we got to see some people get married! We watched from far away because we didn't want to be rude and interrupt their special day. Miss Jeanne says we always need to show respect for other people and use our manners. I think Miss Josephine and Mrs Lee would have enjoyed seeing people be happy at their lake and gardens.

Here is a picture of me and Miss Jessica. We had such a good time I smiled ALL day long!

           Aren't the daffodils beautiful!!
Did you know that a lot of people come from all over Texas, the country and even the world to visit the daffodils? Some people have even come from Bolivia, Brazil, England, France, Ireland, New Zealand, and Scotland! Those places are a long way away. Wow!!
If you would like to know more about the daffodil gardens, here is a link to their website. http://www.daffodilgarden.com/daffodil_history.htm.

Thank you for letting me share my daffodil adventure with you

Keep Smiling!
Nik
